The concept of indie-blue-folk-rock is simple: take the acoustic arrangements of folk, mix in some blues, add a dash of improvisation, and play it with a rock and roll back beat. Layer in some traditional Americana instruments such as a mandolin or banjo, strap on some electric guitar and you have the ingredients for some blue-folk-rock. Publish the songs independently on the web and it can be prefixed with “indie”. Simple.

Take Solace likes to mix various styles of music together. When you have three people of varying tastes writing songs and adding riffs you often will get the so-called “melting pot” effect. We’re American after all. Though we are very inspired by a lot of Canadian Folk Rock bands.

No one wants to be labeled.  That includes us.  Please don’t try to neatly place us in a genre.  If you do we will be forced to break your label and make you look bad.
