Indie Rock for Milwaukee

buried in the field

June 25th, 2008 by Dirk

last night we finished up a song that we’ve been writing for a while.  for a while not because of lack of imagination or patience or tomfoolery.  for a while, because it’s a satirical bluegrass song specifically for the fest in september and we weren’t in any kind of rush.  we put a whole separate set together for the bluegrass fest since we don’t normally play that much bluegrass.  it’s a good time and it gives us a chance to play a different breed of music.  i enjoy it.  dave and chris enjoy it.  so we do it. this song is yet another addition to the bluegrass only set.

the song is about a common, ordinary fella that gets diverted by the pleasures of life.  he’s not entirely epicurian, just mostly confused.  his poor mother isn’t that aware of the world either and ends up causing some harm because of her poor eyesight.  oh the humanity!
