Mixing

February 29th, 2008 by dave

The last recording session on Tuesday the 26th of February was spent mixing. I tell you, this can be a very tedious job. Sometimes you feel like giving up on a song after spending too much time with the levels. You just need to walk away from the song for a bit or maybe burn it on a CD and listen to it in your car (works great, takes away the distraction of the streaming tracks on the computer in front of you).

The Last Sunday Recording In February

February 24th, 2008 by dave

Today Chris and Dave worked on a new old song Dave wrote in 2004. The song is titled “Dial 9.” “Dial 9″ is acoustic picking style song that is based in a Folk Rhythm and garnished with petal steel melodies. Chris arrived at “the studio” at 12:00 noon, ready to take on the world. Chris was able to adapt well to the complexity of the changes in “Dial 9″ from the original song they played together. After a baloney sandwich and having brownies and ice cream for dessert the song was moving along rater nicely. The petal steel track was finished and Chris laid down a lovely bass track. By this time it was 3:30, ah the pleasures of recording. Overall, I would say it was a productive afternoon. All I can ask for is that Chris and Dirk listened to the CD of recordings I made for them and have feedback ready for Tuesday’s recording session.
